Fines for Failing to Comply
Since the 1st July of 2021, if a new or renewed tenancy is signed on a Glenside rental property, all Healthy Homes compliance tasks must be taken care of by the end of 90 days.
As of 1st July 2021, if a new, renewed or varied Tenancy is signed for the Glenside rental property, all Healthy Homes compliance work must be finished inside of 90 days.
Inability to adhere to one of the Healthy Homes Standards by the end of the expected timeframe can result in penalties of up to $7200. Furthermore, if a present Healthy Homes Statement of Compliance is not incorporated within the new, renewed or amended tenancy agreement it could result in additional penalties or an infringement fee.
Every tenant is entitled to request information about the Healthy Homes Standard and how they relate to the building they reside in. If the landlord or property manager fails to supply the required information within 21 days from being informed of the request, they may receive an infringement notification and could be fined up to $750.
In addition, there’s an additional fine of as much as $900 for property owners or property managers who have provided a false or incorrect Healthy Homes Statement of Compliance or any other information. The person who is responsible for this fine is the one who is identified on the tenancy agreement as being the person who is letting the property which could be the landlord’s name or the company that manages the property.

It’s also crucial to remember that a landlord who have multiple rental properties may face more severe penalties for not complying.
